SHOPPERS CAN NOW MORE EASILY FIND HEALTHY FOOD COURT OPTIONS

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. – It’s now easier to eat healthier with the debut this month of a Healthy Choices menu highlighting options from the 11 Food Court restaurants at South Bay Galleria, www.southbaygalleria.com. The menu items are highlighted on food court tables, at the restaurants and throughout the center on mall signs.

According to Regional Marketing Director Mickey Marraffino of South Bay Galleria, “We learned from research that our guests felt the Food Court was unhealthy. I eat here every day and have discovered the healthy options, which just take a few more minutes to find. In conjunction with our quest to help create a Vitality City, we wanted to make it easier for our guest to make healthy choices, so we are now highlighting some options.” There is something for the everyone to enjoy from the Shrimp Bowl served at Great Khan’s Mongolian BBQ to Steak Escape’s six foot Turkey Club Sandwich with side salad and Italian dressing.

“We have lunch and dinner options that are both delicious and good for you, from the tasty Louisiana Fried Chicken’s Grilled Tilapia Salad at 374 calories, El Pollo Loco’s succulent Tacos al Carbo (two tacos served with pinto beans and fresh vegetables) at 535 calories and Napoli Pizza’s savory Grilled Chicken served with steamed broccoli, carrots and roasted red skinned potatoes at 385 calories.”

Participating restaurants include Chick-fil-A, El Pollo Loco, Great Khan’s Mongolian BBQ, Hot Dog on a Stick, Louisiana Fried Chicken, McDonald’s, Napoli Pizza, Panda Express, Ruby Thai, Steak Escape, and Tokyo Grill.

The new menus were inspired by the Healthways | Blue Zones Vitality City initiative, which is a community-wide well-being improvement initiative to create healthier, happier and more productive citizens. It uses permanent, evidence-based environmental and policy changes to help people adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles. The initiative aims to make the Beach Cities community more walkable, bikable, and socially engaged - where the healthy choice is the easier choice.
