• South Bay Galleria to Host Professional Clothing Drive Benefiting Los Angeles Veterans and Homeless on September 14, 2013
SOUTH BAY, Calif., September 09, 2013 – South Bay Galleria, in partnership with Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi and Designing Women South Bay, a women’s guild in support of Working Wardrobes, will hold the annual Reinvent, Recycle, and Reuse Clothing Drive, collecting gently used professional attire for unemployed men, women, as well as male and female veterans re-entering the workforce.
The event will include special guest Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi, of the 66th district, who will join South Bay Galleria to help spread awareness in the South Bay community regarding the importance of the community’s support of its veterans and homeless who are returning to the workforce.
“Re-entering the workforce in today’s economy is a difficult task for any South Bay resident, but for our veterans, unemployed, and homeless, this feat can be nearly impossible without support,” explained Mickey Marraffino, Regional Marketing Director of South Bay Galleria. “Through this incredible program, all South Bay residents can now help these rehabilitated workers gain the confidence they need by donating their gently used professional clothing, which will then be used by for job interviews as well as the working world.”
The Reinvent, Recycle, and Reuse Clothing Drive, will take place on Saturday, September 14 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in South Bay Galleria’s Food Court located on Level 3. Guests are invited to drop off gently used professional clothing such as skirts, slacks, suits, and button up shirts, as well as purses, shoes and accessories. All donations must be clean and clothing items must be donated on hangers. These items will then be donated to Working Wardrobes’ Career Success Program to aid job-seeking veterans and other men and women in the community.
“In addition to donating to this wonderful cause, guests will also have the opportunity to get valuable insight on top job hunting tips to help enhance their own careers,” adds Marraffino.
Representatives from Adecco Employment Services will be on hand during the event to discuss job seeking tips including “how to write a winning resume,” “job hunting in the digital age,” “building a strong LinkedIn profile,” as well as, “tips on key interview skills.”
Marraffino added, “When we can come together as a community, we can truly grow and thrive. We are thrilled to have partnered with Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi, Designing Women South Bay, and Adecco to bring the community together for this very important cause.”
